Animas River:

  • Town Reach: 32 nd St. downstream to the Rivera Bridge behind Home Depot. General trout water regulations from 32 nd St. to Hwy

  • 160 Bridge and Gold Medal regulations from Hwy 16o Bridge to Rivera Bridge. See Map Here.

  • Headwaters Reach: Confluence with Cunningham Creek downstream to confluence with Arastra Creek. See San Juan National Forest Map.

Piedra River (East of Durango and Bayfield):

  • Hwy 160 upstream to First Fork Bridge Reach: This includes the Second Box Canyon. Access at Sheep Creek or First Fork Bridge.

  • Piedra Road downstream to the First Fork Bridge Reach: This includes the First Box Canyon and confluence with Williams Creek and other creeks.

  • Both reaches are Catch and Release only, artificial flies and lures, Predominantly Brown Trout. barbless only. See San Juan National Forest Map..

Williams Creek:

  • Headwaters to confluence with Piedra River: Access from the Piedra Road and Hwy 160 in western outskirts of Pagosa Springs. Predominantly Brown Trout. See San Juan National Forest Map.

  • Williams Creek Reservoir: Regularly stocked by CPW.

Lime Creek (North of Durango up Hwy. 550):

  • Access is by the Old Lime Creek Road at the north end. This road is very rough, 4x4 only and NO trailers. Classic freestone pocket water. See San Juan National Forest Map.

Cascade Creek (North of Durango up Hwy. 50):

  • Access is off 550 at the hairpin just past Cascade Village turning left on the dirt road. Road is very rough, 4x4 only, and ends at the Forest Service Gate. Classic freestone pocket water. See San Juan National Forest Map.

Hermosa Creek and East Fork Hermosa Creek (North of Durango up Hwy. 550): See San Juan National Forest Map.

  • Access is Forest Road (FR) 578; entrance at Purgatory Ski Resort.

  • The East Fork Hermosa is all Catch and Release, barbless flies only. Native Cutthroat Trout.

  • Hermosa Creek from Headwaters to confluence with East Fork. Hermosa is all Catch and Release, barbless flies only. Native Cutthroat Trout.

  • Hermosa Creek below the Confluence Barrier to prevent upstream migration of non-native trout in general trout regulations, predominantly Brook and Rainbow Trout.

  • DO NOT RELOCATE TROUT FROM BELOW THE CONFLUENCE BARRIER TO UPSTREAM OF THE CONFLUENCE BARRIER.
